SKIN DISEASE THAT CAN AFFECT ANYBODY

Vitiligo, also known as LEUKODERMA is triggered by the loss of pigment-producing cells in the skin. This results in the formation of white spots and patches on the skin. Sometimes Sarah speaks of humorously of her skin condition. She says with a smile, “I was born black, became white, and now I’m just confused.” She has VITILIGO. With some patients the condition never progresses beyond the appearance of one patch. With others, however, it spreads over the body quickly. Still others may suffer a slower form of vitiligo that continues to spread over many years. Vitiligo is neither physically painful nor contagious. Not all cases of vitiligo may be as obvious as Sarah’s because it is most noticeable on dark-skinned people. But there are many people afflicted to one degree or another. Statistics show that between 1 and 2 percent of the population is affected. Vitiligo knows no racial boundaries and affects men and women equally. Its cause is still unknown. While there is no sure cure for v

THE POWER OF INTERNAL HEALING MEDICINE

INTERNAL HEALING MEDICINE CAN we overcome stress? If we can, should we? Today psych physiologists are beginning to formulate models showing that stress, anxiety, and depression influence the body to create or aggravate mental and physical disorders. Greater stress and anxiety tend to degenerate the physical body and depress one’s mental outlook on the world. Are there ways to reverse this process of physic al degeneration while maximizing the condition under which positive attitudes, beliefs, and life-style changes can heal the afflicted body and mind? The basic assumption at the root of current research is that there is both a psychological and a physical component to all disease. Another common assumption is that individual is able to exercise a marked degree of will power in the development, aggravation, and alleviation of these disorders. From these assumptions one might conclude that a personal psychology or philosophy may have a pronounce

THE MAGIC OF TOUCH

STRANGE DISEASES were attacking children at an orphanage. the doctors were puzzled. If you walked through the rooms you'd see these tiny tots gaze at you with a haunting stare. how odd they looked -more like shriveled up old men and women. You heard no laughter, no sounds of children at play. They were slow to learn to stand and walk. Deep moans and long sighs were common. They had little appetite for food, became ill and died easily. The puzzled doctors did not know what was wrong. Hence, they did not know what to do.  Then, some wise soul with a healthy mothering instinct made a suggestion. She suggested some teenage girls from the local high school be invited to visit the orphanage. She then instructed these girls to become intimate with the children. She told them to pick the babies up, caress them, pet them, and fondle them. As if by magic, a miracle was wrought. The fondling, petting  and caressing made a dramatic, healthy change in the children. It was so obvious at the

WHEN BEAUTY TIPS BECOME DANGEROUS

The sun is the greatest source of energy you can think of and it can also be a source of great concern to the health of an individual. It is also a vital ingredient in beauty tips.               Cancer is overwhelmingly caused by where you are, what you do, and what happens to you in life, rather than by what you are that is your genetic makeup. Environmental factors are more important than gene factors, smoking causes about 35 percent of cancer, while another 30 percent appear to be related to diet and another fraction caused by exposure to sunlight. Genetic factors play a part in prostate, colorectal, and breast cancer, even if you have a family history of cancer what you do with your life is much more important.               Vitamin D is needed for absorption of calcium so that the mineral can take its place in bone and shore up the skeleton against fractures. 90 percent of our vitamin D is made in our skin upon ex
